Continuing their streak of cryptic hints to announce single releases, as previously done for “This Is Why” and “The News,” Paramore updated their website with the first clue of 2023 on January 7 — “ccc”, scheduled for January 12. Fans immediately linked the three letters to the title of the fourth track on This Is Why and its release as the third single from the album.
The following day, the band hinted on Discord a picture with the title of the song written in scribbles, and on Instagram, a preview of a reversed guitar riff from the track. On January 9, Paramore announced that “C’est Comme Ça” would be released on Thursday that same week.
Hours before its release, Apple Music made available the episode where Williams discusses the track on The Zane Lowe Show, allowing users to hear the song earlier. “C’est Comme Ça” was also scheduled to premiere on BBC Radio 1’s Future Sounds, but Paramore’s appearance was replaced for a different artist at the last minute.
